Agadir is a bustling city set on Morocco’s west coast. It’s loved by visitors for its year-round sunshine, water sports opportunities and cultural experiences. For many, the main draw is Agadir’s nine-kilometre sandy beach – one of the best in Morocco. The Atlantic waters here are crystal clear and there are lots of cafés and restaurants dotted along the coast and at the picturesque marina.
Most of Agadir was sadly destroyed by an earthquake in the 1960s, and the city was subsequently rebuilt from scratch. The result is an attractive resort town with broad, palm-lined avenues bordered by cafés and flowering parkland. However, it’s still easy to get a sense of old Agadir; in the city centre you can explore colourful bazaars, spice-laden souks and some beautiful Moroccan architecture.
