For the sheer breadth of experiences it offers to travellers, the USA stands alone. Choose from culture-packed cities such as New York and San Francisco, or popular entertainment hubs like Las Vegas and Orlando. Travellers can also experience the USA’s epic landscapes, from the Grand Canyon in Arizona, to stunning national parks such as Yosemite and Yellowstone.
New York
New York City is positively brimming with iconic sights and must-do experiences. Once you’ve ticked off Times Square, Brooklyn Bridge and the Statue of Liberty, take time to visit some of the city’s top-drawer museums and galleries; the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Brooklyn Museum, and MoMA are good places to start. Dining will be another highlight; in each of New York’s contrasting neighbourhoods you’ll find some of world’s best restaurants. Sore feet? Head to one of the prime beaches on New York’s coastline.
Las Vegas
Las Vegas stands like a mirage in the Mojave Desert, in the southern corner of Nevada. The neon-lit city dubbed the ‘entertainment capital of world’ lives up to its name. In addition to the gigantic casinos and dazzling cocktail bars there are spectacular stage shows, world-class restaurants and swanky pool parties. Consider taking a day or two away from the bright lights to visit the magnificent Grand Canyon in neighbouring Arizona.
Miami
With its luxury hotels, glamorous bars and ultra-cool nightlife scene, Miami knows how to have a good time. By day you can enjoy the city’s miles of white-sand beaches and authentic Cuban cafes. Miami’s pastel-coloured Art Deco architecture is another of the city’s highlights. Take a walking tour of the Art Deco Quarter, then sink a brightly coloured cocktail or two in one of the bars on Ocean Drive.
Orlando
Orlando holds the title of the theme park capital of the world. Walt Disney World Resort and Universal Studios are among the best known, but there’s also Legoland and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Alongside the incredible theme parks, Orlando offers excellent golf courses, multi-storey shopping malls and a host of exciting attractions on the 11-mile-long International Drive.
