  Set deep in the Indian Himalayas (3500 m) on the western edge of the Tibetan plateau, Ladakh, or 'Little Tibet', is bounded by two of the world's mightiest mountain ranges, the Great Himalayas and the Karakoram. Culturally Tibetan, Ladakh has remained culturally unchanged over the centuries. The fairs and festivals with mask dances, beautiful gompas, art treasures and tankas (painted scrolls) are in plenty for the lovers to see and enjoy.  
     
 

Delhi ~ Leh ~ Delhi

     

Day 1 Delhi
Arrive Delhi. Meet and assist upon arrival and transfer to the Intercontinental The Grand/Nikko.

Day 2 Delhi to Leh
Morning flight to Leh in the Himalayas. Afternoon walk in the winding streets and quaint markets. Overnight at the Dewachan Continental.

Day 3 Leh & Stoke Palace
Morning sightseeing includes visit to the eightstorey Leh Palace, built in 16th Century. Shaker Gompa with an outstanding collection of small statues of pure gold and paintings. Also visit Stoke Palace, home to a superb collection of Thangkas considered to be the best in the world.

 

Day 4 Visit Hemis, Shey & Thiske
Full day excursion to Hemis Gumpa, built in 1620, Ladakh’s most affluent and wealthiest monasteries. Shey Palace, the summer palace of the former Maharaj of Leh housing an outstanding two storied statue of sitting Buddha. Also visit Thiksey monastery, perched high on the hill and presents panoramic view of the Indus valley.

Day 5 Visit Spituk & Phyang
After breakfast enjoy a visit to Spituk Gompa and Phyang monastery belonging to the Red sect of Buddhists.

Day 6 Visit Khardungla & Sabu
Morning leave for Khardungla pass, a memorable drive to see the world’s highest motorable road at 18,338 feet above sea level. Afternoon visit nearby Sabu village famous for Oracles.

   

Day 7 Leh to Delhi
Return flight to Delhi. Overnight at the Inter Continental The Grand Nikko.

Day 8 Delhi
Morning city tour of Old and New Delhi visiting the Red Fort, the colourful markets of the Chandni Chowk, Qutab Minar, India Gate and Rashtrapati Bhavan (President’s Palace).

Day 9 Depart Delhi
Transfer to the airport for your flight home.
